The new man in our life...

I've been debating about doing this for a long time...

I've checked their website every day looking for the right one...

Well, I finally found him...

He has golden amber colored eyes...

Soft brown hair...

And a cute little button nose...

Welcome the new man in our life...

BUDDY!!!!!!!!

That's right...we got a puppy!!! I needed another pet (especially a dog) like I needed a hole in my head. But Riley, bless her little heart, has been trying so hard to help out around the house so we could get another dog. She feeds the cats and Elvis every morning and lets Elvis outside to go to the bathroom every morning and night. She even helps clean the litter box sometimes. Plus she bought (with her own money) a book at the neighbors yard sale on "How to Raise a Puppy." How could I say no to her after her hard work for the past several months?? I really wanted to wait until Christmas, but after searching the Idaho Humane Society website for months, I knew I had to check out this puppy as soon as I saw him. Boy did we get lucky!!!

So, on Saturday, after a fundraiser for my work and Riley's soccer game were canceled, due to the pouring rain, we made a spur of the moment trip to the pound to check out this little cutie. After playing with him for nearly 30 miunutes we knew we wanted this puppy AND we knew he would be a great dog. Since then, in the short three days we have had him, Riley has fallen in love with this dog and he has fallen in love with her...

A little about Buddy: Buddy, a border collie mix, is only 10 weeks old but he has a great demeanor and is super smart! He has only been on a leash a couple times and he all ready follows right next me and Riley. He has only had a couple accidents in the house and that was the first day we got him. When I went to work this week I was SO worried that he would tear up the house and go to the bathroom all over the place. So, I put him in Riley's room hoping I could isolate the damage to one area of the house. Much to my delight, when I got home last night and tonight he did not have any accidents and he didn't tear up anything in Riley's room!! What a good boy!! He all ready comes to his name when called AND he has started to fetch. I can't believe it! I am telling you...this is one smart dog!

But Buddy is not the only dog we have. Some of you may be wondering, what about Elvis?? Yes we still have Elvis. For those of you who don't know, Elvis is my 12 year old long haired dachshund. Elvis is slowly getting used to the puppy, but he is still a little unsure of him. Bless little Buddy's heart, he wants to play with Elvis SO bad and poor little Elvis is just not up for it. Can you blame him?? He's only 84 years old in human years!!

With a little puppy comes lots of responsibilities...such as training him. So, starting the second week in October, we will be going to puppy training classes. We are SO excited. I know he will excel.

Stay tuned for further updates as this story developes!!!

Quick Update!!!

So, nothing too exciting or crazy going on around here...kinda. Just a quick update!!

*There is some family drama but I guess it wouldn't be my family if there wasn't any. Don't ask unless you want to feel better about your own family and have 20 minutes you're dying to kill.

*We went to McCall this last weekend for a conference for NASW. It was ok...Riley and my mom went and had a blast, but I was stuck inside inside all day. On the plus side, I learned a lot and had lots of great FREE food...can't beat that.

*Work is going great as well...although I am SWAMPED!!! And it's only gonna get worse over the next few weeks...at least the time flies by fast and I LOVE my job! As much as I love my job though, I hope I don't end up like this poor guy (read the cartoon below...)

*Riley is doing awesome in school - she is in the top reading and math group - YEAH! Plus she loves first grade and everything about it. She has yet to have a bad day at school. Can't beat that!

*Riley is also in soccer again (no pics up yet because my photo software isn't working) and doing GREAT!! She finally scored a goal at their first game. She has dramatically improved this year. I am so proud of her and how hard she is working. So far they have had three games; the first two they won and the third one was a tie. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it the third game because we were in McCall. Hopefully they'll win the next game. Let me tell you though, these girls play hard!! I cannot beleive how hard they kick the ball and how many times each and every girl has been hit in the gut or face with the ball and yet they keep on going. It is really something. They're jerseys are white, so fittingly they are the Snow Leopards. Riley would love to see some people at her games so if you would like to come let me know and I will send you a list of her games. GO SNOW LEOPARDS!!

*Comments...don't forget, you can leave comments even if you don't have a blog. All you have to do is select "leave a comment" at the bottom of my blog, mark "anonymous" in the comment box and then you can leave your name at the end of the message. We would love to see who else visits our blog.

*Quite following me!!! Just kidding! Actually, I would love to know who is following my blog. There is a neat feature on the side bar of my blog where you can add yourself as one of my followers. Please...someone add themselves...just kidding...kinda

*No Smoking!! That's right...I quite smoking. I feel so much better. I have only smoked once in the past 16 days...go me!!!

*Now that I passed that hurdle I can focus on cutting back on my Pepsi intake (which I have cut in half but I want to cut back more) and exercising more; thus losing weight. Speaking of losing weight...I think the Biggest Loser starts tonight...gotta go and watch it!
